Comments: Thanks for your pictures of the Milton V Roth. My family had dinner on board her years ago when she was the John Rowe on the Ohio. Our uncle was the captian's high school teacher and he slowed enough for our houseboat to catch up and hitch a ride for lunch. I remember its size and triple engine controls. Its a different view from the pilot house as the double tow sits in front of you as you enter a lock. Hats off to the skill and knowledge of the river pilots.

Comments: My father, (Les, SR.) worked for the Corps of Engineers at Lock 12 and then Pike Island L/D on the Ohio. With our house overlooking the river and Lock 12, I grew up watching and learning the names of the towboats locking through. What I'd give to hear an old steam whistle from a boat approaching the lock arrival point....
