Power and machinery info from two different sources disagree: Cat 3512B diesels, repowered 2003, 3000 hp. Reintjes reduction gears, 6.12:1. Kort nozzles. GE 228 diesels, repowered 2003, 4200 hp. Reintjes reduction gears, 4:1. Kort nozzles. Originally Indianapolis, owned by Pennsylvania Railroad Company, Philadelphia, PA. Firm merged into Pennsylvania Central Transportation Company of New York, NY 1968. Sold to Crescent Towing Co., Inc., New Orleans, LA, renamed Kevin Smith 3/1974; enamed Ned Ferry 1991. Rebuilt, repowered by Bollinger Shipyards, New Orleans, LA 2003, with a complete redesign of the vessel, including the wheelhouse, with better window placement, low profile stacks for maximum visibility.
