Grew up in Monaca, Pa (northern most point in the Ohio River) and took riverboat pictures in the late 50's and early 60's. Still have negatives in envelopes of those boat pictures. It sure was a different time. Really liked the sternwheelers.

I really enjoyed your tug boat galley. I have been trying very hard to find infomation on a tug I worked on in 1961 out of New Orleans, her name was Philip Sporn, I would love a picture of her or any type of information about her. Thanks in advance for any help. Regards,
Jesse Robertson

How blessed and surprised I was to type in "tug boat named after Jerry McNeil Kentucky" and be led to this website! And, to see more recent pictures than I had of "Jerry's boat" as we approach the ninth anniversary of losing him, chokes me up. Yesterday, October 1 would have been Jerry's 54th birthday. He passed away of a massive heart attack at the age of 46, just 4 days from Christmas 2002. He left behind a beautiful wife, two children, a big family that adored him and so many friends that the visitation at his funeral took 5 1/2 hours, on Christmas Eve in a snowstorm. He's now in heaven, and has probably laid asphalt so he and Dale Earnhardt can entertain former Nascar fans with chariot races, of sorts! Thank you SO much for this site. It is a comfort and encouragement to us all.

Love your website! On the Robert L Posey slideshow, photo #10 of 18 is not the W.J.Barta. Boat pictured is a twin screw. I was an enginneer on towboats in the 70's and early 80's.

My dad owned and operated the Natalie Alexander, in the late 70's until 1990. At the time it was named the Sioux. I always wondered if the old girl was still in operation, I finally came across the picture. It looks great. Keep her going DG Marine Trans.
