Built 1951 by St. Louis Shipbuilding & Steel Co., St. Louis, MO.

On The Ohio At Paducah, KY, 7/2007

Nigata 6L26CX diesels, repowered 1990, 3000 hp.,
drives Z-Pellor units, repowered 1982. Kort nozzles.
Originally Delta Cities, owned by
Lake Tankers Corp., New York City, NY,
(part of high speed integrated tow with 3200 hp.,
controllable pitch props and barge “wings”)
Firm became National Marine Service, Inc., St. Louis, MO.
Sold to Superior Transportation, Inc., Greenville, MS,
renamed W. S. Lyon 1964.
Returned to National Marine,
renamed Delta Cities 9/1966.
Burned after colliding with Port Arthur Bridge 9/13/1970.
Hulk towed to Hartford, IL, and remained dormant for several years.
Decision was made to rebuild in 1974, but work was not completed.
Sold late 1979 to Dravo Mechling Corp., Pittsburgh, PA,
(who planned to use the hull as a landing boat).
Some prankster painted "The Hulk" on the stern,
a name it unofficially carried amongst rivermen
Completely rebuilt by Compass Dockside Service, New Orleans, LA 1982,
renamed Miss Nari 9/1982.
Operated by Compass Marine Services, Inc., New Orleans, LA.
Sold to Riverbarge Excursion Lines, Inc., pushed River Explorer passenger barge.
Returned to Maritime Administration 2009, tied up at Beaumont, Texas.
